The coupling of an electrical simulation with a flow, temperature and structural analysis shows the theoretically unlimited possibilities of virtual product development. There are certainly cases in which such a complex approach to a system analysis is required in order to understand the underlying interrelationships.
How the coupling of the individual disciplines is implemented, integrated or separated, uni- or bilateral, depends on the task and the possibilities of the available simulation software. How the implementation of the multidisciplinary simulation is realized in the end depends on the calculation engineer.
At present, the effort involved in setting up and verifying such models is certainly still relatively high. The former will become fewer and fewer in the long term as the programs are improved, whereas the verification that the model is delivering the right results will continue to take time.
